The Empress of india

The Northwest Frontier
kit-built loco and its entire train set.

 For this model build I used the Agenoria kit AM36 Hunslet 0-6-0 T

 ~~~
Below the chassis parts
 With rivet punch
 Below:- loosely fitting the chassis parts together to check alignment
After soldering it all together including the bearings
                      All the main body parts
                   After punching the rivets out
            Soldering on the doorway hand grips
                  The footplate and bufferbeam
                      Fitting the body parts
The portholes open as well, and here can be seen my very own mod
    The boiler needs to be fitted very accurately
                         Lots of solder bleed
                       Test fitting the chassis
The movie loco had some kind of angle bar in front of the cab added by me
Adding the front bufferbeam mod, an addition made by me like the movie loco
                        Adding the brake gear
                      And the brake adjuster
The connecting rods assembled. These need to be identical IE:- the holes
         The valve gear assembly with stop plates
File the back of the push-rod bolt flat after soldering
                      Valve gear mechanism
                       Fitting the crank-pins
                       File off any anomilies
The cylinder
        As the rear of the crank pin was ground flat we see why here, the crank-pin also had to be done and fitted to this wheel permamently to allow contacless rotation VERY IMPORTANT. Note the front of the push-rod bolt nut has also been soldered.
                     Marrying the two together
                    Cab detailing- the fun part
Scratch building is quite important in this conversion
            Here we see my log plough mod
                     The steps were fitted
 The injectors were fitted
                         Lovely cabin details
         The sand box is white-metal, and I replicated the erm thingy ? Above the smoke box door - an object that seems pointless but nevertheless is there in the movie loco.
        It was most practical to glue on the steam dome and chimney as soldering those big lumps would require sooo much heat !!!
There seemed to be some kind of cylinder on the left side of the loco in front of the cab
Above and below :- the steam and vaccum pipes
                   Lastly the whistle was fitted
 The Eton boating song :-
       A similar view to the one from the movie:- below.
